Business Kolding works as a development and business organisation for Erhvervsråd, Handelsråd and the Turistforeningen in order to develop business, trade and tourism in Kolding. Business Kolding works together with Kolding Kommune regarding Kolding’s strategic business aims, implementing the local authority’s business policy, and in addition providing a wide range of services to the business and trade community.
Apart from the permanent business tasks which are described in the section "about Business Kolding", the following are examples of actual projects which are under development by Business Kolding:
Superdome
Business Kolding is participating, together with external partners and Kolding Kommune, in the work to build a multi use arena for Kolding. The project has the working title of Superdome and must be able to stage larger concerts, sporting and cultural events.
Science centre in Kolding
Business Kolding is working together with the companies Landmark, Slotsøgruppen and Experimentarium in Copenhagen in order to create a new – and much larger - science centre as a replacement for Xploorit. Outlet and hotel
Business Kolding is working to attract an international outlet centre to Kolding and is having ongoing talks with both Danish and international investors, brand name goods suppliers and other partners. In connection with the outlet there are plans to establish a four star hotel.
Global Village
Business Kolding is working on the establishment of a residential area for the large group of foreign labour that already works in the Kolding area. Work is also being done to attract additional foreign labour, and the already existing need for such a residential area is therefore still rising.
The Cosmo, International School in Kolding
Business Kolding has together with Kolding Realskole established The Cosmo, International School of Southern Denmark. The project is of great significance for the many businesses in the region that employ – and would like to attract to a greater degree - foreign labour. The project has a clear connection with the above mentioned Global Village. The Cosmo school bell will ring for the first lesson after the summer holidays in 2008. Energy group
We will to an increasing extent have the need to create and use new sources of energy. In Kolding we wish to develop initiatives, which support energy companies and energy projects. Business Kolding has entered into a partnership with Europe’s largest business development park, Sophia Antipolis, and seeks to create with this partnership the business region of the future for energy companies.
Meeting and conference town
Business Kolding and Visit Kolding are working together with hotels and other partners to develop Kolding’s capacity and expertise as a meeting and conference town. The ambition is to attract even more significant events, both national and international, to Kolding, and a new and strengthened total concept for holding larger conferences and other events is under development and will be introduced in 2008. Øliaden and Oktoberfest Kolding
Business Kolding was behind Oktoberfest Kolding in 2007. The festival which lasted five days, and was introduced with a speech at Kolding Teater by Franz Beckenbauer, is a link in Business Kolding’s strategy to attract international events to Kolding. Furthermore, it is our aim to establish a new tradition of an annual recurrent town festival in Kolding.
In 2008 the Oktoberfesten is a part of Øliaden – Kolding’s new, exclusive beer event, which runs from 4th to 6th September.
Campus Kolding - portal for students
Business Kolding is working together with the town’s educational institutions in the establishment of a joint portal for students in Kolding. The portal, which appropriately has the name campuskolding.dk, should be the students’ entry point to all relevant information about Kolding.
Event for entrepreneurs
Business Kolding and House of Innovation are working together with Væksthus Syddanmark (business link Southern Denmark) about an event in autumn 2008, which will really confirm Kolding as an entrepreneurial town and as Denmark’s number one centre of growth. The event will focus on dreams and on the many existing initiatives in Kolding to house, advise and encourage entrepreneurs.
Design event
In collaboration with several attractions and the business community in Kolding, Business Kolding is working to support the strong expertise the town has in the area of design. Definite plans are being worked on to support the design event Biennalen, which is held every other year with several experiences that will additionally put Kolding on the map as Denmark’s number one design town.
Tourist packages
Business Kolding and Visit Kolding are working together with places for overnight accommodation, attractions and other interested partners on a continuing development of targeted products for tourists. It involves for example special offers on overnight accommodation and attractions for families with young children in the school holidays and in connection with special events in Kolding, such as Kolding Cartoon Festival.
Kolding brand products
Business Kolding has together with Georg Jensen Damask and textile designer Helene Vonsild developed a distinctive Kolding design, which presents Kolding as a centre for energy, development, design, migration and knowledge. The special design can be seen already on a special Damask tablecloth, which was available during Christmas 2007, together with the 2007 Kolding wine and other products. The design is likewise used on several websites including julikolding.dk. There is further work with the use of the design in different contexts and on various products.
Turnaround Town
Business Kolding and Town Kolding are working together with the consultancy firm Milestone Advice in order to transform the development in Kolding Town. It must among other things take place by attracting shops and events, which can strengthen Kolding’s image as a versatile and pleasant commercial centre.
